Gujarat CM distributes appointment letters to 8,169 Vidya Sahayaks

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel also announced that the Education Department plans to recruit around 10,000 more teachers in the coming period.

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel distributed appointment recommendation letters to 8,169 newly appointed Vidya Sahayaks, or assistant teachers, on Monday. The ceremony took place at Trimandir in Adalaj, according to ANI.

Patel stated that the teachers would play an important role in shaping the future of Viksit Bharat and urged them to nurture students to contribute to that vision. He noted that more than 6,000 women were among the recruits, which he said reflected the presence of Nari Shakti in the education sector.

The Chief Minister said the recruitment was conducted through a transparent, merit-based process. He also announced that the Education Department is planning to recruit approximately 10,000 more teachers in the coming period.

Education Minister Pradyuman Vaja said the government completed a recruitment process for approximately 12,000 Vidya Sahayaks to strengthen primary education. He said the recruitment included about 11,000 vacancies for Gujarat i-medium Classes 1 to 5 and around 987 vacancies for other mediums.

Vaja stressed the importance of foundational literacy, numeracy, and skill development under the National Education Policy. He urged teachers to use activities, stories, and technology to make classrooms engaging rather than relying on rote learning.

Minister of State for Education Rivabaa Jadeja congratulated the teachers and said educators are crucial in shaping children's thinking, personality, and character. She said education should focus on values, skills, and technology alongside basic literacy.
