Bengaluru: TDR process to go digital to speed up infrastructure projects
Greater Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda directed officials to move the entire Transferable Development Rights system onto a single online platform.
Greater Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda directed officials on Monday to digitise the Transferable Development Rights (TDR) system, according to The Hindu.
Addressing Greater Bengaluru Development Authority (GBDA) officials at Vikas Soudha, the Minister said the move aims to increase transparency and decrease delays in land acquisition for road widening and other infrastructure works.
Mr. Gowda noted that the current mechanism relies heavily on physical files, which lacks proper tracking and has caused public dissatisfaction. He stated that road widening and new road construction are necessary for long-term solutions to traffic congestion in Bengaluru.
The new digital platform will manage the full TDR lifecycle, including recording property details, verification, scrutiny, and the issuance of certificates. The system will also handle the purchase, sale, and final use of these certificates.
The Minister said the platform will allow applicants and property owners to monitor their application status online. This change is intended to remove the necessity for intermediaries or frequent visits to government offices.
