Three BSF personnel and a youth injured in Tripura clash

A confrontation between Border Security Force personnel and local residents in Sepahijala district led to multiple injuries and police intervention.

Three Border Security Force (BSF) personnel and a local youth were injured during a clash with residents in the Ashabari locality of Tripura's Sepahijala district on Monday, according to reports by The Hindu and The Assam Tribune.

The confrontation occurred near Natun Bazar during a road blockade by locals protesting the alleged detention and assault of a youth, Hefzur Rahman, during a vegetation-clearing operation.

The injured BSF personnel, identified as Company Commander Rohit, driver Sunil Kumar, and Manjit, were travelling in a vehicle from the 49th Battalion when they were allegedly attacked with sticks and bamboo.

The BSF personnel and the youth, who sustained a leg fracture, were shifted to Tripura Medical College and BRAM Hospital in Agartala for treatment.

Police from the Kalamchoura police station and personnel from the Ashabari BSF Border Outpost arrived at the scene to control the situation, and a security contingent of armed police and Tripura State Rifles has been deployed.

Two separate First Information Reports (FIRs) have been filed at the local police station by both sides, and an investigation into the incident is underway.
