Jailer 2 holds Kerala box office top spot for three weekends

The Nelson Dilipkumar directorial is the second film in the post-COVID era to achieve this feat in the state after Vikram.

Rajinikanth's Jailer 2 has occupied the number one position at the Kerala box office for three consecutive weekends, according to a report by Mint. Released on 15 October, 2026, the film is the second movie since the Covid-19 pandemic to stay at the top for three straight weekends in the state, following Kamal Haasan's Vikram.

The film, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and produced by Sun Pictures, has seen significant commercial success in the territory. Figures reported by Sacnilk and published by The Week show the movie earned approximately ₹75.20 crore gross in Kerala during its first 16 days, with the total exceeding ₹76.25 crore by Day 17.

The sequel has surpassed the Kerala lifetime collection of SS Rajamouli's Baahubali 2, which earned about ₹72.25 crore. It also moved past the previous record for the highest-grossing Tamil film in Kerala held by Vijay's Leo, which collected approximately ₹59.64 crore.

The production features an ensemble cast including Mohanlal, Ramya Krishnan, Vidya Balan, SJ Suryah, Jackie Shroff, Shivarajkumar, and Vijay Sethupathi. Trade tracker Friday Matinee noted that the film is part of a limited group of movies to achieve this run since theatres reopened after the pandemic.
