Ranbir Kapoor addresses online trolling regarding Ramayana role with song reference
The actor responded to social media scrutiny of his portrayal of Lord Ram during a virtual interaction with students.
Actor Ranbir Kapoor addressed the online backlash regarding his role in the upcoming film Ramayana during a virtual interaction with more than 18,000 students. According to Outlook, Kapoor used a Kishore Kumar song to respond to the scrutiny surrounding his casting as Lord Ram.
Kapoor referenced the song 'Kuch Toh Log Kahenge, Logon Ka Kaam Hai Kehna' to explain his philosophy on handling social media trolling. He said that people will always have something to say and advised not to get bothered by what people are saying.
The actor stated that what matters most is work, intention, kindness, and the people who matter to an individual. The controversy followed casting announcements and a slip-up during a Dussehra event where Kapoor accidentally referenced the 'end of goodness' instead of its 'triumph'.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the two-part saga is a joint venture between Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations. The film features Ranbir Kapoor as Prince Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash as the antagonist Ravana.
The production includes a supporting cast including Sunny Deol, Anupam Kher, Kajal Aggarwal, and Rakul Preet Singh. Ramayana: Part One is scheduled for a global release on November 5, 2026, in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.
