Inexperienced bowling attack is India's biggest challenge, says Gautam Gambhir

India head coach Gautam Gambhir identified the lack of experience in the bowling unit ahead of the five-match ODI series against New Zealand.

India head coach Gautam Gambhir has identified an inexperienced bowling attack as the primary challenge for the visitors ahead of the five-match ODI series against New Zealand, according to reports by Times Now and The Times of India.

The series is scheduled to begin on November 4. With Jasprit Bumrah rested and Hardik Pandya unavailable, the bowling unit will rely on Mohammed Siraj, Arshdeep Singh, Auqib Nabi, Anshul Kamboj, and Gurnoor Brar.

Gambhir noted that Siraj is the most experienced with 51 ODIs, followed by Arshdeep Singh with 18. He stated that Auqib Nabi and Anshul Kamboj have played one ODI each, while Gurnoor Brar has featured in nine matches.

The coach said that if India performs well in the series, the credit should go to the bowlers rather than the experienced batting unit. He said that overseas series are often won by bowlers in one-day and Test cricket.

Gambhir also commented on Abhishek Sharma's improvement against off-spin during the T20I series. He said the opener worked on tactical and technical aspects after struggling against off-spinner Michael Bracewell in the first match.
