Saudi-led coalition intercepts Houthi missile during Yemen fighting

A ballistic missile targeting southern Saudi Arabia was destroyed as clashes continue between Houthi fighters and Yemeni government forces.

The Saudi-led coalition intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile aimed at the southern region of Saudi Arabia, according to Al Jazeera on Monday. Coalition spokesman Major General Turki al-Maliki stated that air defences also destroyed a drone launched toward the southern region on Sunday evening.

The Saudi Civil Defence authority issued and subsequently lifted alerts regarding potential danger in Abha, Khamis Mushait, Taif, and Najran. The authority advised residents not to record or distribute any details concerning drone or missile strikes.

In Yemen, Houthi-affiliated media reported that seven people were injured during coalition air strikes on Hodeidah. Four injuries occurred at the Ras Isa port dock, while three others were reported following a strike on an oil company site in the Bajil district.

Yemeni government forces are currently conducting operations in al-Jawf, Marib, and al-Bayda to regain territory from the Houthi group. Army spokesman Colonel Majed Abdullah al-Nazili said on Sunday that government forces carried out 1,272 targeting operations over a 24-hour period.

Al-Nazili claimed that government forces killed approximately 500 Houthi fighters and disabled or destroyed nearly 170 pieces of equipment, vehicles, or heavy weaponry. These clashes occur as the government continues its Operation Dawn of Yemen campaign to restore control.

In southwest Yemen, Taiz Governor Nabil Shamsan reported that 120 health centres have ceased operations due to Houthi blockades on food, fuel, and medical supplies. He noted that 66 additional facilities are at risk of closing since supply routes were cut in early October.
