Multiple states are deploying electricity workers and rescue teams to help Andhra Pradesh deal with the impact of a cyclone.

Tamil Nadu and Karnataka have sent electricity workers and rescue teams to Andhra Pradesh to assist with cyclone-related recovery, according to reports from Urban Acres and ANI.

Tamil Nadu Electricity Minister Nirmal Kumar said on November 2 that 500 electricity board employees have been sent to the neighbouring state following a request for assistance. Kumar stated that Chief Minister Vijay directed the deployment to provide immediate help.

The minister added that the teams were formed so that electricity-related work in Tamil Nadu would not be affected. He also noted that rescue teams in Tamil Nadu are on standby for the northeast monsoon.

According to ANI, the Karnataka government, led by Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, is also providing assistance. Under the supervision of Energy Minister K J George, Karnataka is sending 500 powermen, 15 Palfinger trucks with cranes and earth augers, and 25 tractor-based drilling machines.

Chief Minister Shivakumar spoke with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu to assure him of support. The Karnataka teams were mobilised on an emergency basis and reached Andhra Pradesh by midnight on Monday.

Additionally, The News Mill reported that three teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) 4th battalion have been deployed from Tamil Nadu to lead rescue and relief operations.
