TMJK leader alleges confinement at Pudukottai Collectorate during Chief Minister's visit

K.M. Shariff claimed he and three others were locked in a room and denied a meeting with Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay.

Tamizhaga Makkal Jananayaga Katchi (TMJK) state president K.M. Shariff alleged that he was confined in a room at the Collectorate on Monday. The incident occurred during Chief Minister C.

Joseph Vijay's visit to Pudukottai, according to The Hindu.

Shariff, who contested the Pudukottai Assembly constituency in the 2026 Assembly elections, arrived at the Collectorate with three others, including two Congress members. They were carrying VIP passes for the government function held there.

Shariff claimed officials told them the passes were invalid and might have been issued by mistake. He stated he wanted to meet the Chief Minister to submit a petition for a government law college and a cashew nut factory in the Pudukottai constituency.

The group was asked to wait in a meeting room near the Collector's chamber. Shariff alleged that once they entered the room, the doors were locked, preventing them from meeting the Chief Minister.

Shariff said he and the others were held in the room for nearly three hours without access to water or a toilet. He claimed they were only released after the Chief Minister had left the Collectorate.

The TMJK leader said the VIP pass had been given to him the previous night. He stated that if they had been informed the pass was invalid earlier, they would not have come to the Collectorate.
