Amit Shah leads BJP padayatra in Hyderabad to safeguard democracy
The Union Home Minister accused the Congress Party of attempting to seize power through anarchy following successive electoral defeats.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Hyderabad on Monday to lead a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) padayatra under the slogan ‘Let us safeguard democracy - let us end anarchism’. According to The Hindu, the foot march is scheduled to proceed from the Babu Jagjivan Ram statue in Basheerbagh to the MJ Market in the city.
Before the rally, Shah visited the Bhagyalakshmi temple near Charminar to offer prayers alongside senior BJP Telangana unit leaders. Union Coal and Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy and Telangana BJP president N.
Ramchander Rao were among those who welcomed Shah at Begumpet airport.
In a post on X, Shah alleged that the Congress Party is determined to seize power through anarchic actions after facing successive election defeats. He stated that he is participating in the grand padayatra to protect democracy from what he described as nefarious attempts by the Congress Party.
The rally is expected to include lawyers, doctors, intellectuals, and thousands of party workers. Other participants include Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay and other state BJP leaders.
The event follows a rally at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi on Sunday, where the INDIA bloc called for the BJP's ouster over 'vote chori' (vote theft) charges. During that rally, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi asserted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Shah would not be allowed to escape the law.
Hyderabad Traffic Police have announced restrictions on several major routes in the central part of the city due to the event.
