Amit Shah to lead BJP padayatra in Hyderabad on Monday

The Union Home Minister will participate in a march to counter the Congress Party's narrative regarding the Special Intensive Revision process.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah reached Hyderabad to participate in a BJP padayatra on Monday, November 2, 2026. According to The Hindu, the march uses the slogan ‘Let us safeguard democracy - let us end anarchism’ and is scheduled to move from the Babu Jagjivan Ram statue in Basheerbagh to MJ Market.

The padayatra aims to counter the INDIA bloc's narrative that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) led to the removal of 13 crore voters, according to The New Indian Express. BJP Telangana president N. Ramchander Rao said Hyderabad was chosen to counter the Congress narrative in a state ruled by them.

Prior to the rally, Amit Shah and senior leaders offered prayers at the Bhagyalakshmi temple near Charminar. Shah stated on X that the Congress Party is determined to seize power through anarchic actions and that the padayatra is to protect democracy from their attempts.

Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy said the opposition wants to halt the Women’s Reservation Bill and the delimitation of constituencies. He noted that the SIR is a process carried out by state government staff.

The rally will include Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar and other senior leaders. N. Ramchander Rao has appealed for large public participation, with the programme expected to draw around one lakh people, according to the Deccan Chronicle.

Hyderabad Traffic Police have announced restrictions and diversions on several major routes in the central part of the city between 1 pm and 7 pm on Monday.
