Cyclone Murasu to bring heavy rain to southern and eastern India

Andhra Pradesh and Telangana face high weather alerts as Cyclone Murasu approaches the coast, according to The Economic Times.

Cyclone Murasu is expected to cause intense rainfall across various parts of southern and eastern India on Monday, November 2, according to The Economic Times. The cyclone is forecast to cross the south Andhra Pradesh coast between Nellore and Narsapur, near Ongole, between late Monday night and early Tuesday morning.

Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema are likely to see heavy to very heavy rain, with some areas experiencing extremely heavy downpours. Winds in the region may reach 100–110 kmph, with gusts hitting 120 kmph. In Telangana, isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall and squally winds are expected as the system moves towards the coast.

Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal are also likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated locations. Due to the rain, schools and colleges in Chennai have been closed on November 2 as a precaution. Other states including Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Kerala, Arunachal Pradesh, and Karnataka are also under forecasts for heavy or isolated rainfall.

In contrast, Delhi-NCR is expected to have mainly clear skies with no rain on Monday. Temperatures in the national capital are likely to range between 17°C and 29°C. However, air quality remains a concern, with New Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, and Faridabad all recording hazardous AQI levels on November 2.
