Ann Widdecombe's Dartmoor home goes on sale for £900,000
The property in Devon where the former Conservative MP was murdered is being marketed four months after her death.
The Dartmoor residence of former Conservative MP Ann Widdecombe has been put on the market for £900,000, according to a Times of India report. The five-bedroom house in Haytor Vale, Devon, is being sold by estate agents Knight Frank four months after Widdecombe was murdered in July 2026.
The detached bungalow, which Widdecombe had named ‘Widdecombe’s Rest’, features several reception areas, three bathrooms, a swimming pool, stables, and large gardens. The current asking price is 50 per cent higher than the £600,000 she paid for the property in 2008.
The sales brochure includes a note stating that an unlawful death of an occupant occurred at the property in 2026. Following the murder, locals reportedly complained about visitors attempting to take selfies or look through the windows, leading to the installation of large wooden gates and a heavy chain.
Widdecombe, 78, was found dead in her kitchen on July 9, 2026. Prosecutors alleged she was attacked with a hammer while eating lunch on July 8, receiving 21 strikes to the head.
Joshua Kerry, 28, from Rotherham, has been charged with her murder and remanded in custody. He also faces a charge regarding the preparation of a terrorist act, though he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
