UK woman quits NHS job to live in caravan after wilderness survival experience
Eva Outram moved into a caravan with her partner to save approximately $3,200 every month after appearing on a survival reality show.
Eva Outram, a 28-year-old British woman, quit her $58,000-a-year job as a National Health Service (NHS) project manager to live in a caravan, according to a Times of India report.
The decision followed her experience on the Channel 4 survival series 'Alone', where she spent 23 days in the Canadian wilderness. Outram previously lived in a two-bedroom flat in Leeds, England, which she purchased in October 2022.
Outram told PEOPLE that she felt she was on a "hamster wheel" of working to pay her mortgage and bills. After the reality show, she and her partner, 33-year-old stonemason Tom Park, bought a caravan for £4,800.
The couple now lives on farmland, providing a few hours of work each week in exchange for accommodation, electricity, and water. Their responsibilities have included general maintenance, looking after chickens, and construction work.
By eliminating accommodation costs, the couple estimates they can save around £2,500, or roughly $3,200, every month. Outram earns money through content creation and outdoor ventures, while Park continues his paid work.
Outram told the Yorkshire Post that the arrangement gives them a "total sense of freedom" and higher disposable income.
