A suspected drug trafficker was arrested during a joint operation with the Assam Police along the Silchar Bypass Road.
The Assam Rifles and Assam Police seized methamphetamine tablets valued at approximately Rs 3.49 crore and arrested a suspected drug trafficker in the Cachar district of Assam, according to The Hawk on Tuesday.
During the operation conducted along the Silchar Bypass Road, the joint team recovered 1.363 kg of the tablets. Officials also seized a mobile phone and a scooty from the apprehended individual.
The arrested person and the recovered items were handed over to the Assam Police. The investigation will proceed under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
The seized methamphetamine, which is a banned synthetic drug in India, is often referred to as Yaba or party tablets. These substances consist of a combination of caffeine and methamphetamine.
This seizure follows another operation on November 1 in the same district. During that instance, the Assam Rifles and the Silchar-based Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) recovered 20 kg of crystal methamphetamine worth about Rs 40 crore at Dholai Bazar.
