Assistant Sub-Inspector Chandramohan Singh is absconding after allegedly firing his service pistol at villagers in Balirajgarh village.
An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) allegedly opened fire on villagers in Balirajgarh village in Bihar's Madhubani district early Tuesday, resulting in the death of a 50-year-old man and injuries to three others, according to The Indian Express.
The deceased, identified as Ashok Yadav, died while undergoing treatment at Sadar Hospital. The injured individuals have been identified as Dhanik Lal Yadav, Phulo Devi, and Vijendra Yadav.
Madhubani Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Yogendra Kumar said the incident occurred around 1 am when villagers allegedly cornered the officer, identified as Chandramohan Singh, inside a woman's house. The SSP stated that the ASI, who was posted at a local police picket, reportedly fired several rounds from his service pistol while attempting to escape.
The SSP alleged that the officer had been frequently visiting the residence due to an illicit relationship with a woman. Following the shooting, the ASI fled the scene and is currently absconding.
