Senior IAS officer CK Anil takes over Bihar education department

The appointment of the 1991-batch officer has raised expectations for administrative reform in the state's education system.

Senior IAS officer CK Anil has assumed charge as the Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) of the Education Department in Bihar, according to The New Indian Express. Anil, a 1991-batch officer of the Bihar cadre, is known for a decisive and strict administrative style.

The officer has already begun implementing changes, including a new dress code for education officials and government school teachers. This initiative aims to discourage Western-style clothing and encourages teachers to act as role models through their professional appearance.

Anil has also started reviewing the operations of district education offices, beginning with Siwan. He will be assisted by a team of senior officials, including Secretary Rajiv Raushan.

While the appointment has been met with optimism from citizens and political parties, some departmental employees in district offices have expressed apprehension. They are reportedly concerned that his strict monitoring may reduce room for administrative irregularities.

The officer's career includes approximately 22 postings across 20 locations over 35 years. He previously served as Secretary of the Revenue and Land Reforms Department during the tenure of Minister Vijay Sinha.
