A toddler from Kutch is recovering after a medical team at Civil Hospital Ahmedabad successfully extracted the sharp object.
A 3-year-old girl from Kutch has recovered after doctors at Civil Hospital Ahmedabad removed a pair of scissors embedded in her chest, according to WION.
The accident occurred at approximately 11 am last month while the toddler was playing with her 5-year-old brother.
The child was initially taken to a private facility and then to a hospital in Gandhidham for a CT scan, after which she was referred to Ahmedabad due to the critical nature of the injury.
She was admitted to Civil Hospital Ahmedabad at 10 pm that night for emergency surgery.
The operation was performed by a specialised team from the Pediatric Surgery department, overseen by Department Head Dr Rakesh Joshi and led by Assistant Professors Dr Kashvi and Dr Mrinalini, with the assistance of anaesthetists.
Dr Joshi stated that parents must monitor what young children play with and keep sharp objects out of reach, adding that immediate medical attention should be sought if a child has difficulty breathing after an accident.
The patient is currently stable and is expected to be discharged from the hospital soon.
