Freight train derails in Gujarat's Dahod

The derailment of an empty freight train near Dhedela on Monday night caused delays for two Delhi-bound trains.

Two wheels of an empty freight train derailed near Dhedela in Gujarat on Monday night, according to reports from The Economic Times and ANI.

The train was travelling from Dahod toward Jakot and was heading to Madhya Pradesh when the incident occurred. The derailment affected traffic on the down line and resulted in delays for two trains bound for Delhi.

Railway teams began restoration work immediately after the incident. No injuries have been reported.

In a separate incident in Tamil Nadu's Tirupattur district, seven empty railway coaches rolled away from the Jolarpettai Junction railway yard. The coaches travelled approximately six kilometres without an engine before derailing near Thamaleri Muthur.

Preliminary information suggests the coaches were in a maintenance yard for repairs and had been moved by an engine. It is alleged that railway staff did not secure the coaches properly, causing them to roll away.

The Tamil Nadu incident disrupted services on the Bengaluru-Chennai route. Authorities reportedly averted a major accident after a gatekeeper heard the noise and alerted officials, allowing them to stop approaching trains.
