Samsung may reintroduce under-display camera in Galaxy Z Fold 9
The South Korean technology giant is reportedly considering internal upgrades for its 2027 foldable smartphone according to leaks from Kalinga TV.
Samsung may bring back the under-display selfie camera for its upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 9, which is expected to launch in 2027, according to a report by Kalinga TV.
The technology giant is reportedly looking at significant internal improvements for its next generation of foldable devices.
Samsung originally launched the under-display camera with the Galaxy Z Fold 3 in 2021. The feature remained on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 before the company switched to a standard punch-hole selfie camera for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 in 2025.
The shift to a punch-hole design was reportedly due to criticism regarding image quality. While placing a camera under the screen allows for a more immersive display, the screen layers can limit the light reaching the sensor.
The potential return of this technology suggests the company may be working to address these quality trade-offs. The Galaxy Z Fold 9 could arrive in 2027, possibly during the company's usual mid-year launch period.
Samsung has not officially confirmed the device, its specifications, or the launch schedule. All current details are based on leaks and tipster reports.
