IIT-Hyderabad and Crimson Energy complete inaugural nuclear technology programme
Twenty-three engineers and industry professionals graduated from the three-month residential ANUGYAN programme in Sangareddy.
The Indian Institute of Technology-Hyderabad (IIT-H) and Crimson Energy Experts Pvt. Ltd. (CEEPL) held a valedictory ceremony on Monday for the first batch of the ANUGYAN – Nuclear Technology Orientation Programme (NTOP). According to The Hindu, 23 industry professionals and engineers completed the three-month residential course at the IIT-H campus.
The programme, which began on August 3, provided instruction in areas such as radiation shielding, reactor physics, thermal hydraulics, and nuclear safety. Participants also studied small modular reactors (SMRs), quality assurance, and the regulatory frameworks of the Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB).
The curriculum included laboratory experiments, technical case studies, and simulator training. It also featured practical insights from professionals linked to NPCIL and BARC to bridge the gap between academic engineering and the needs of nuclear projects.
Central Electricity Authority (CEA) chairperson Ghanshyam Prasad attended the ceremony and stated that nuclear power is vital for India's reliable, clean energy future and its 2047 goals. He noted that initiatives like ANUGYAN are essential for creating the skilled workforce required for this vision.
IIT-H director Prof B. S. Murty said the programme was designed to merge academic foundations with the practical, safety, and regulatory demands of the nuclear industry.
