Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings in advanced talks for Hardik Pandya swap

Arshdeep Singh and Vishnu Vinod may move to Mumbai Indians as part of a major trade deal ahead of the 2027 IPL auction.

Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings are in advanced negotiations to swap all-rounder Hardik Pandya for pacer Arshdeep Singh and wicketkeeper-batter Vishnu Vinod, according to a report by Press Trust of India (PTI) cited by Times Now.

The deal is being discussed ahead of the 2027 Indian Premier League (IPL) season. A Sportstar report, as cited by Rediff, stated that senior management from both franchises have all but agreed to the trade, with documentation expected to be processed this week.

If the deal is completed, Pandya will join Punjab Kings as a specialist player. A source told PTI that Punjab Kings intend to retain Shreyas Iyer as captain, meaning Pandya will not lead the side despite his previous captaincy roles at Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians.

The trade comes as Pandya has been out of action since IPL 2026 due to injuries. Rediff reported that Punjab Kings are willing to take a gamble on the all-rounder, even as they trade Arshdeep Singh, who was retained by the franchise for Rs 18 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction.

The two teams are likely to make an official announcement before the November 17 deadline for player retention. The IPL auction is scheduled for December 16.
