Hardik Pandya set for Punjab Kings trade in swap deal with Mumbai Indians

The proposed exchange involves Mumbai Indians sending Pandya to Punjab Kings for Arshdeep Singh and Vishnu Vinod.

Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Hardik Pandya is expected to move to Punjab Kings (PBKS) as part of a player swap ahead of the IPL 2027 retention deadline on November 17, according to reports from The Federal and WION.

The deal reportedly involves PBKS sending pace bowler Arshdeep Singh and wicketkeeper-batter Vishnu Vinod to MI. While negotiations have advanced considerably, a source told PTI that the transaction is not yet a finished deal.

If the trade is completed, Pandya will join PBKS as a specialist player. The source noted that PBKS intends to retain Shreyas Iyer as captain, meaning Pandya would not take over leadership duties at the franchise.

Pandya, who is currently recovering from injury at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, previously captained Gujarat Titans to an IPL title in 2022. He has led MI for three seasons since moving from Gujarat in an all-cash deal before IPL 2024.

India ODI captain Shubman Gill recently praised the all-rounder, stating that Pandya possesses rare qualities as a fast-bowling all-rounder. Gill added that he is in contact with the 32-year-old and expects him to return to the national side after playing domestic cricket.
