Rijiju hits out at Rahul Gandhi over PM foreign help claims
Union Minister Kiren Rijiju compared the Congress leader's remarks to Islamic fundamentalists talking about secularism.
Union Minister Kiren Rijiju on Tuesday criticised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi after the latter accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of becoming Prime Minister with foreign help. According to the Times of India, Rijiju compared Gandhi's remarks to Islamic fundamentalists talking about secularism, separatists holding Indian flags and anarchists displaying the Constitution.
The confrontation began after Gandhi alleged that the Prime Minister's financial system is controlled by foreign interests and that foreign social media platforms back him. Gandhi stated that the Prime Minister became PM because of foreign help and remains in office with such backing.
In a post on X, Rijiju said that pushing the agendas of India's enemies while accusing others of foreign support is self-ridiculing. He also rejected Gandhi's call for a public confrontation, stating that top-level debates are conducted between matured people.
The exchange follows a speech by Prime Minister Modi on 'Ekta Diwas', where he accused the opposition of being an obstructionist force. Modi also questioned whom certain people are meeting abroad and alleged that anti-India forces are supporting those speaking against the country's interests.
Gandhi challenged the Prime Minister to an open debate on any stage at any time, saying he would not accept the challenge if the Prime Minister did not have the guts.
