Rajasthan has requested the Centre to ensure the timely release of Rs 3,000 crore under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) 2.0. According to reports by The Times of India, Chief Secretary V Srinivas raised this demand during a meeting with Union drinking water and sanitation secretary Ashok K Meena in New Delhi on Monday.
The state is seeking funds for expenditure incurred between March 2024 and March 2026. This period covers the transition from the first phase of the programme to the second phase. Rajasthan has also asked for the reconciliation of scheme-related data to align expenditure records with the requirements of the new framework.
During his visit to Delhi, Srinivas held discussions with three Union secretaries. He met MeitY secretary S Krishnan to discuss strengthening the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Mission and improving the state's cybercrime response mechanism.
Srinivas also met Union rural development secretary Rohit Kansal to discuss the National Saras Mela 2026-27. The 18-day fair is scheduled to be held in Jaipur from December 25, 2026, to January 11, 2027.
The fair will be organised by the Rajasthan Grameen Aajeevika Vikas Parishad (Rajeevika) and is expected to feature 750-800 stalls showcasing products from women's self-help groups.
