Karnataka government to support development of Kannada medical literature

Chief Minister DK Shivakumar urged medical professionals to use the state language in their practice and technical education.

The Karnataka government will provide complete assistance to the creation and preservation of medical literature in Kannada, according to The New Indian Express.

Chief Minister DK Shivakumar made this announcement on Monday while releasing the logo and brochure for the second Kannada Medical Literature Conference 2026 at his Krishna home office.

Shivakumar stated that medical and technical education should be accessible in Kannada and requested the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) to lead this initiative.

He also encouraged doctors and nurses to incorporate Kannada into their professional work and asked senior doctors to promote the language in technical studies.

RGUHS Vice-Chancellor B C Bhagwan said the university is the first health sciences institution to host a comprehensive conference of this kind.

The conference, which aims to bring medical research and health information to the public in Kannada, will take place at Bangalore Medical College on November 20 and 21.
