KTR helps woman stranded in Muscat return to Telangana

Thuppudu Lakshmi reached Hyderabad on Monday after BRS working president KT Rama Rao intervened to resolve her passport issue.

BRS working president KT Rama Rao facilitated the return of Thuppudu Lakshmi from Muscat to Hyderabad, according to reports by Telangana Today and The Pioneer. Lakshmi, a resident of Gokafasalwad village in the Kodangal constituency, arrived safely in India on Monday to reunite with her family.

Lakshmi had travelled to Muscat on February 27 with her husband, Venkatappa, to find work. She was allegedly forced to perform tasks that differed from the employment terms provided by her recruitment agent. Her employer reportedly took her passport and denied her request to return to India.

The agent who organised the travel allegedly stopped answering calls and requested Rs 2 lakh to assist her return. After her internet and SIM services were disconnected, Lakshmi used a neighbour's connection to contact her son, Raju, to explain her situation.

Raju met Rama Rao on September 29 to request assistance. Rama Rao promised to resolve the passport matter and bring her home within one month, subsequently writing to the relevant authorities to initiate the process.

Lakshmi met Rama Rao at Telangana Bhavan in Hyderabad on Tuesday to express her gratitude. She stated that Rama Rao kept his promise to her son and said her family would remain grateful for his help during their difficult time.
