KaRaVe begins month-long campaign to collect recruitment data in Karnataka
The pro-Kannada group is visiting industrial establishments to determine the number of Kannadigas employed in the private sector.
The pro-Kannada organisation Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (KaRaVe) has started a month-long campaign across Karnataka to gather data on Kannadiga employment in private companies, according to South First.
Led by State president TA Narayana Gowda, the group is visiting IT parks and industrial sites to study workforce numbers and recruitment methods. On Monday, 2 November, KaRaVe delegations approached human resources heads at various companies, including some in Bidar, to seek employee details.
KaRaVe State organisation secretary Arun Javgal said the group aims to understand the current workforce because there is no existing data on how many Kannadigas are employed in these industries. He noted that while company policies might not show prejudice, issues can exist on an interpersonal level.
The organisation intends to use the findings to help structure long-term policies. Javgal added that there is no intention to force companies to provide information, noting that if a skill gap is identified, the government could intervene with targeted measures.
Deputy Chief Minister Shivakumar appealed to organisations to avoid approaching IT and BT companies directly. He stated that such matters should be settled through legal frameworks and dialogue, adding that the government is committed to protecting the interests of Kannadigas.
The campaign follows a viral social media post in October where a woman alleged discrimination against Kannada-speaking jobseekers in the IT sector.
