Light rain and snowfall expected in J&K around November 5

Meteorological Department Director Mukhtar Ahmad said a weak Western Disturbance is expected to affect parts of the region.

Jammu and Kashmir is likely to see light rainfall in some parts and snowfall in higher reaches around November 5, according to the Kashmir Observer.

Meteorological Department (MeT) Director Mukhtar Ahmad said on Tuesday that a weak Western Disturbance is expected to affect the region. This system may cause light precipitation at isolated places, though most areas are expected to remain dry until November 9.

Ahmad stated that another Western Disturbance is likely to influence the region on November 10 and 11. This could bring light rain to some districts in the Kashmir and Jammu divisions, along with light snowfall in higher-altitude areas and possible isolated thundershowers.

Temperatures across the region are gradually declining, and Ahmad said that winter has almost set in. He noted that shallow fog is being observed over the plains during morning hours and warned that reduced visibility could become more frequent.

The MeT director advised farmers to continue harvesting, fresh sowing, threshing, and field preparation as weather conditions remain favourable. He also urged travellers to follow traffic advisories, especially when moving through higher-altitude and vulnerable areas.
