Spinners Ritesh Bhatkal and Shikhar Shetty take all wickets against Assam

The duo combined for 10 wickets to bowl Assam out for 135 in their Ranji Trophy Elite Group B encounter.

Spinners Ritesh Bhatkal and Shikhar Shetty claimed all 10 wickets to bowl Assam out for 135 on Monday during a Ranji Trophy Elite Group B match in Guwahati. Ritesh took five for 35, while Shikhar recorded five for 53, according to reports from Sportstar and The Hindu.

The pitch appeared green but contained a dry, grippy surface underneath that the spinners exploited after being introduced from the seventh over. Assam captain Denish Das and Sibsankar Roy shared a 63-run partnership for the fourth wicket before Ritesh dismissed Roy.

Ritesh completed his five-wicket haul by bowling Denish Das in the first over of the second session. Shikhar then reached his third five-wicket haul of the season by taking the remaining wickets to dismiss the Assam tail.

In response, Karnataka reached 180 for two in 36 overs, with Rohan Patil scoring 89 and Mayank Agarwal remaining 57 not out. Rohan Patil was caught by Sibsankar Roy off the bowling of Amlanjyoti Das.

Shikhar, who is 21, said that varying pace on the slowish wicket helped them execute their plan. He noted that he worked on giving more revs to the ball, a technique he learned from Shreyas Gopal during off-season camps.
