Punjab Kings in advanced talks to trade for Hardik Pandya
A potential deal between Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians could see the all-rounder move to PBKS as a player.
Punjab Kings (PBKS) are in advanced discussions with Mumbai Indians (MI) to acquire Hardik Pandya ahead of the IPL 2027 season, according to reports from India Today, The Hawk and The Federal.
The proposed trade involves PBKS sending left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh and wicketkeeper-batter Vishnu Vinod to MI. One source told IANS that verbal discussions between the top management of both teams have occurred, and formal paperwork may start soon.
If the deal is finalised, Pandya is unlikely to take a leadership role at PBKS. An IPL source told PTI that Shreyas Iyer is expected to continue as captain, meaning Pandya would join only as a player.
Other franchises including Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals and Lucknow Super Giants were also reportedly interested in Pandya, but PBKS currently holds the edge in the race.
Pandya, who has not played since the last IPL due to injury, previously led Gujarat Titans to the 2022 title. He returned to MI in 2024, where he has captained for three seasons.
The BCCI has extended the player retention deadline to November 17, while the IPL 2027 mini-auction is scheduled for December 16 in Goa.
