Noida businessman completes 70-km Adi Kailash run in 12 hours

Sameer Nehra finished the run in the Vyas Valley despite temperatures dropping to -18°C and low oxygen levels.

Noida businessman Sameer Nehra completed the 70-km Adi Kailash Parikrama Run in 12 hours and 17 minutes in Uttarakhand's Vyas Valley. According to the Times of India, the event was organised by the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board from October 24 to 26.

The run began at Jyolingkong and ended at Gunji in the Dharchula region of Pithoragarh district. Nehra, a resident of Sector 105, Noida, faced an altitude of approximately 15,000 feet, temperatures as low as -18°C, and low oxygen levels.

Nehra said that participants stayed at a military camp and arrived a day or two early to acclimatise to the altitude. He told Hindustan Times that staying hydrated and managing physical exhaustion were the most difficult aspects of the challenge.

Nehra recalled that at one point his legs stopped functioning, making the run a mental game. He said the thought of quitting crossed his mind, but he pushed himself to finish because he had committed to it.

The 42-year-old has been participating in marathons for several years and runs for two hours every evening. Having completed this 70-km run, Nehra has already signed up for a 160-km marathon.
