Ranbir Kapoor and Namit Malhotra discuss potential third Ramayana film
Producer Namit Malhotra says the makers may reconsider the two-part franchise structure based on audience feedback.
Actor Ranbir Kapoor and producer Namit Malhotra have addressed speculation regarding a third instalment of the Ramayana film franchise, according to a Business Today report. The mythological epic, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, is currently planned as a two-part series.
Speaking to Review Nation, Kapoor stated that he has completed approximately 50 per cent of his work for the second part and that filming is currently in progress. He also mentioned the possibility of a third film if such a project eventually exists.
Producer Namit Malhotra said during a Los Angeles premiere that the production team originally intended to release the story in three parts before deciding on two. He noted that the makers could revisit this decision after evaluating how audiences respond to the first film.
Malhotra added that the team might assess whether any content needs to be added or removed following the initial release.
The first film, titled Ramayana: Rise of a Legend, is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on November 5, 2026. The cast includes Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman.
The second instalment is planned for a release during Diwali 2027, with filming already underway.
