Rescue and veterinary relief operations intensify in landslide-hit Gidipabali
Rapid Response Teams from the Animal Resources Development department are conducting medical interventions and animal disposal in the disaster-affected region.
Rapid Response Teams (RRT) from the Animal Resources Development (ARD) department of G. Udayagiri and Chakapada blocks have launched medical interventions in landslide-affected Gidipabali, according to Pragativadi.
These teams are working alongside district-level rescue forces to provide veterinary assistance. During the joint operation, teams disposed of 12 dead animals, including 10 large cattle and 4 goats, through burning and deep burial with quicklime to prevent disease outbreaks.
Rescuers saved two large animals and administered steroids, long-acting antibiotics, and liquid oral medications. However, an ox that was rescued earlier with severe spinal and head injuries died during treatment, and its carcass was also disposed of safely.
Personnel conducted operations in challenging field conditions using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits, though several kits were damaged. Authorities have recommended routine health check-ups for all staff members involved in the operations.
Efforts to rescue surviving livestock in the region remain active.
