Telangana CM directs officials to clean and decongest Hyderabad
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy instructed authorities to improve waste management and implement signal-free traffic systems.
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Monday directed officials to implement steps to make Hyderabad a clean and traffic-free urban area. According to the Deccan Herald, the Chief Minister held a review meeting with municipal officials at his Jubilee Hills residence to discuss various city issues.
Reddy told authorities to ensure no garbage is visible in the city and called for constant monitoring of waste collection. Officials informed him that door-to-door waste collection is being strictly enforced and action is being taken against negligent parties.
The Chief Minister also ordered the removal of construction debris and suggested coordinating with the Industries wing for waste collection in those zones. He instructed officials to stop using drinking water for non-potable needs like construction and gardening.
To conserve drinking water, Reddy advised using 'Green Tankers' that supply treated water from Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs). He suggested expanding the current service of 28 tankers from 19 STPs to include areas under the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC), and Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation (MMC).
Addressing traffic congestion, the Chief Minister requested plans for underpasses and elevated corridors to create a signal-free system. He stated that traffic flow should be uninterrupted so vehicles do not wait at signals for long periods.
The meeting was attended by MP Vem Narender Reddy, Chief Minister Secretary Manik Raj, HMDA Commissioner Sarfaraz Ahmed, and Municipal Commissioner G. Srujana.
