Tusshar Kapoor receives Rs 5 crore extortion threat from Bishnoi gang impersonator

Mumbai Police are investigating a hoax call made to the actor by a person claiming to be a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

Bollywood actor Tusshar Kapoor reported receiving an extortion call demanding Rs 5 crore, according to Sambad English. The caller identified himself as Harry Boxer, a purported member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

The Mumbai Police Anti-Extortion Cell and the Crime Branch have initiated an investigation into the matter. The Crime Branch technical team examined an audio recording of the threat and compared the voice to an official sample of Harry Boxer in their database.

Senior Mumbai Police officials stated that preliminary findings suggest the call was a hoax because the voices did not match. Police suspect a miscreant used the gang's name to intimidate the actor for money.

Authorities are working to trace the individual behind the call to determine if it was an isolated incident or involved an organised gang. The actor is the son of Jeetendra and Shobha Kapoor.

In a separate incident, eight bullion traders in Nagpur's Sarafa Bazar reportedly received letters demanding Rs 10 lakh each. These letters, also using the Lawrence Bishnoi gang's name, included threats against the traders and their families.
