Uttar Pradesh introduces three-level grievance system for medical students
The new Structured Communication and Feedback System aims to resolve student complaints quickly across 84 medical colleges in the state.
The directorate of medical education in Uttar Pradesh has ordered all medical institutes in the state to implement a three-level grievance redressal mechanism, according to reports by Hindustan Times and Urban Acres.
The initiative, named the Structured Communication and Feedback System, is being rolled out across 84 medical colleges to address student problems and suggestions through formal channels.
Director General of Medical Education (DGME) Neha Sharma said the system aims to gather information regarding troubles faced by students, resolve those issues, and prevent future occurrences.
The escalation process involves four stages: the student, a Student Welfare Nodal Officer, the college principal, and finally the DGME.
Each college will appoint a Student Welfare Nodal Officer to receive complaints, maintain records, and ensure administrative action. A student grievance or voice box will also be placed on teaching campuses for students to submit feedback or academic concerns.
The nodal officer will open the box every two days to record details in a register. If a grievance is not resolved at the nodal officer level, students can escalate it to the principal, and then to the DGME if necessary.
A government spokesperson stated the system will increase transparency and create a student-friendly academic environment. Records of the receipt, examination, and final resolution of every grievance will be maintained at each level, Sharma said.
