West Bengal Board proposes shifting Madhyamik exams to March 2027
The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education suggested the change because teachers may be deployed for the upcoming Census exercise.
The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) has proposed to postpone the 2027 Madhyamik Class 10 exams from February to March, according to a report by India TV on Tuesday.
The board has submitted a revised schedule to the state education department for consideration. The proposal suggests conducting the exams from March 2 to 16, instead of the previously scheduled dates of February 15 to 25.
Board president Laltu Das told PTI that the proposal is not yet finalised. He stated that teachers who conduct the exams will have to be deployed for the Census enumeration exercise in February.
The Census exercise is scheduled to begin on January 25 next year and will continue until February 28. The Madhyamik exams were originally set to be held in a single shift from 10.45 am to 2 pm.
The examinations will be conducted in pen-and-paper mode. Students will be allotted 15 minutes of reading time from 10.45 am to 11 am before the exams begin at 11 am.
