A video showing a person consuming brown sugar in a Bhubaneswar aid post has surfaced on social media.
A video showing a young man allegedly using brown sugar inside a traffic aid post near Sriya Talkies Square in Bhubaneswar went viral on Monday, according to The New Indian Express.
The footage, which was reportedly recorded on a mobile phone at night, shows the individual lying down surrounded by matchboxes and cigarette packets.
The incident occurred near the Kharavela Nagar police station and has prompted investigators to verify the identity of the youth and the timing of the recording.
Sources stated that many of the city's 29 traffic aid posts are in poor condition, with broken windows, doors, and stolen washroom taps.
A traffic officer said personnel cannot monitor the posts 24X7, noting that most staff leave after 10.30 pm, leaving the structures unsupervised.
Traffic police have lodged at least 10 complaints regarding theft and vandalism at these posts. A senior police officer said patrolling will be intensified to prevent misuse by anti-social elements.
