Tamil militant groups reject Sri Lankan government proposals

The groups renewed their demand for a Tamil homeland during a meeting with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M G Ramachandran.

Sri Lankan Tamil militant groups have rejected proposals from the island government to resolve the ethnic issue, according to The Indian Express.

During a meeting with Chief Minister M G Ramachandran, the groups renewed their demand for a Tamil homeland.

Tamil Nadu Food Minister S Ramachandran said the Centre and the state will study the response of the groups.

The minister added that a third round of talks may be held if necessary.

In another development, sources say a coalition ministry led by Farooq Abdullah, consisting of the National Conference and Congress-I, will be sworn-in on November 6 in Jammu and Kashmir.

This will replace President’s Rule in the region, with both parties organising a ceremony for the event.
