Singapore Airlines booking records affected by Amadeus cybersecurity incident
The airline reported that approximately 46,000 booking records were potentially compromised during a breach involving its technology provider, Amadeus.
Singapore Airlines announced on Tuesday that a cybersecurity incident involving its reservation technology provider, Amadeus, may have impacted around 46,000 booking records. According to reports from Telegraph India and Moneycontrol, the airline's data was part of a broader breach affecting several global carriers.
The exposed data includes customer names, booking classes, travel itineraries, and booking reference numbers. For approximately 620 booking records, additional information such as phone numbers, email addresses, KrisFlyer membership numbers, and travel document details may have been accessed.
Amadeus confirmed that credit card or bank account information was not leaked and that no bookings were modified. The airline also stated that its own IT systems were not breached during the incident.
Singapore Airlines is contacting affected passengers with upcoming travel to advise them to change their booking reference numbers as a precautionary measure. Amadeus noted it identified a vulnerability in a travel booking display environment but did not provide a specific count of affected customers.
Other airlines, including Cathay Pacific Airways, Japan Airlines, Asiana Airlines, and Malaysia Airlines, have also reported that customer data was compromised in the Amadeus breach. Recent reports indicated the breach affected 53,000 bookings at Cathay Pacific and 92,000 customers at Japan Airlines.
