ABVP holds protest march at Delhi University to save democracy

The student organisation accused Congress and Left-wing parties of promoting anarchy during a demonstration involving thousands of students on Wednesday.

The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) conducted a large protest march at Delhi University on Wednesday under the slogan ‘End Anarchy, Save Democracy’, according to India Today.

Thousands of students took part in the demonstration. The ABVP claimed that participants arrived from various parts of the country in addition to those from Delhi.

The organisation directed its protest against the Congress and Left-wing parties. The ABVP accused these groups of fostering an atmosphere of anarchy and demonstrating a lack of faith in the Constitution and democracy.

ABVP National General Secretary Dr Virendra Solanki told Aaj Tak that the march targeted anti-democratic activities by the Congress and Left-wing parties. He stated that the group had held similar protests at universities nationwide.

Solanki added that the ABVP intends to carry out more demonstrations at state and central universities to spread its message.

The protest occurs during a broader political campaign by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) using the same slogan. Senior BJP leaders, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Nitin Navin, have taken part in similar rallies across the country.
