Uttar Pradesh plans Singapore City near Noida International Airport

The state government aims to develop a modern urban destination in Sector 7 to attract foreign investment and boost real estate.

The Uttar Pradesh government plans to build a dedicated 'Singapore City' near the upcoming Noida International Airport at Jewar, according to The Economic Times. The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has identified Sector 7 for this proposed urban development.

The proposal follows a meeting last Wednesday in Lucknow between Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and a 14-member delegation of Singaporean investors. The group was led by Singapore Business Federation (SBF) chairman Mark Lee.

The project intends to focus on high-end infrastructure and modern industrial facilities. Priority sectors for cooperation include semiconductor fabrication, electronics, data centres, artificial intelligence, and multimodal logistics. The state also seeks expertise in clean technologies such as solar energy, green hydrogen, and waste management.

During the discussions, Adityanath noted that Uttar Pradesh produces approximately 55 per cent of India's mobile phones and 60 per cent of its electronic components. He stated that Singapore's proficiency in urban planning and technology could complement the state's industrial potential.

The delegation expressed interest in various regional projects, including the Film City, Toy Park, and a proposed semiconductor cluster in Greater Noida. The visit occurred after the Chief Minister's trip to Singapore to strengthen economic ties.

The project is currently in the planning and investment-discussion stage. Details regarding land use, construction schedules, and specific investment commitments are not yet available.
