Andhra Pradesh warns youth against agents promising jobs in Russia
The state government cautioned unemployed people against fraudulent agents and training institutes that allegedly lure them into Russian military service.
The Andhra Pradesh government on Wednesday cautioned young people against fraudulent agents and unauthorised training institutes that promise overseas employment but push them into military service in Russia, according to Telangana Today.
The state issued a press release citing the case of J Vamsi, a man from Visakhapatnam. Vamsi travelled to Russia for fruit packing work but allegedly found no employment and was subsequently recruited into the Russian Army by a Nepali national who promised him better-paying work in Ukraine.
In a video message, Vamsi and four other Indians claimed they were lured with promises of food-packing jobs and are being sent to frontline areas near the Russia-Ukraine border. They alleged they were made to sign Russian documents without understanding them and were later told they had acquired Russian citizenship.
The government stated that some private training institutes and illegal agents, particularly targeting youth from the North Andhra region, are using the pretext of high salaries and better opportunities to send people abroad.
The state advised students and unemployed youth to remain vigilant against advertisements promising easy recruitment and high salaries. It urged candidates to verify employment contracts, visa details, and the legality of recruiting organisations through official agencies before travelling.
The government advised young people to report suspicious job offers, agents, and organisations to the police and concerned authorities.
