At least 38 civilians killed in Russian strikes across Ukraine

Russian attacks on an aid centre, a hospice, and a hospital have caused multiple casualties in several regions, according to BBC News.

Russian strikes across Ukraine have killed at least 38 civilians and injured many others over the last 24 hours, according to BBC News. The attacks targeted an aid distribution centre, a hospice, and a hospital.

In the southern Zaporizhzhia region, at least 33 people died in a glide bomb attack on Komyshuvakha village on Monday night. President Volodymyr Zelensky said the death toll could rise as more than 50 people were believed to be trapped under rubble. He described the strike on a school building used as an aid centre as one of the largest mass killings committed by Russia during this war.

The Russian defence ministry claimed the attack targeted Ukrainian military units and killed 25 servicemen. However, BBC News Russian defence correspondent Ilya Abishev reported there was no credible evidence the site was being used by the military and no major military or industrial facilities were in the settlement.

In the north-eastern city of Kharkiv, a hospital strike wounded 73 people, mostly elderly patients, President Zelensky said. In Dnipro, a Russian missile destroyed a hospice on Monday night while nearly 50 terminally ill patients were being transferred. Mayor Boris Filatov shared photos of elderly people in the damaged facility.

Russia also struck the Donetsk region and energy infrastructure in nine regions. In Kyiv, the water supply was entirely cut off and the metro network was suspended on Tuesday, according to the water supplier Kyivvodokanal and Mayor Vitali Klitschko.

The Kremlin announced it will participate in three-way peace talks brokered by the US in Abu Dhabi on 10-11 November. Additionally, US First Lady Melania Trump is set to host representatives of Russia and Ukraine at the White House on Thursday.
