Bihar to emerge as leading renewable energy state, says Shailesh Kumar
State Energy Minister Shailesh Kumar noted growing investor interest and several sanctioned projects under the PM-KUSUM scheme during a summit in New Delhi.
Bihar is poised to become a leading state in the renewable energy sector due to growing investor interest and various projects in the pipeline, according to ANI.
Speaking on Wednesday at the Bharat Renewable Energy Summit and Expo, State Energy Minister Shailesh Kumar said the government has sanctioned necessary projects under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM) scheme.
Kumar stated that the state will solarise approximately 2,500 electricity feeders. He added that projects under the PM-KUSUM scheme alone total 2,900 MW.
The minister highlighted energy storage initiatives, including a 1,600 MW pumped storage project in Nawada and a 500 MW battery energy storage project.
Kumar mentioned that similar projects have been undertaken in Kajra and that the state is facilitating investments by providing land and other support to investors.
The PM-KUSUM scheme aims to reduce diesel dependence in agriculture and increase farmers' incomes by promoting solar energy adoption through subsidies and grid-connected solar power plants.
