Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan lived together before marriage, says actress
Kareena Kapoor shared how her decision to move in with Saif Ali Khan was viewed by her family and the public.
Actress Kareena Kapoor has revealed that she and Saif Ali Khan lived together for nearly five years before their marriage in 2012. According to a report by the Times of India, the couple's decision to share a home was considered unconventional at the time, especially given Kapoor's background in the Kapoor family.
In her book 'She Walks She Leads' by Gunjan Jain, Kapoor stated that she moved out of her mother's house because she was ready to do so and wanted to spend more time with Ali Khan. She noted that while there were 'raised eyebrows' due to her family lineage, she remained honest about the arrangement.
Kapoor explained her reasoning by suggesting that in Bollywood, testing a relationship is a valid approach. She said, “I didn’t see anything wrong in it.” Her sister, Karisma Kapoor, noted that while the family is slightly conservative, they accepted the decision as Kapoor follows her instincts.
Ali Khan's mother, Sharmila Tagore, recalled an instance in Delhi where Kapoor spoke openly about their living arrangement. Tagore remarked on how the world had changed, noting that while her own live-in relationship with Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi was kept as a 'deep, dark secret', Kapoor spoke about it naturally.
Ali Khan and Kapoor married in October 2012. They have two sons, Taimur Ali Khan and Jeh Ali Khan.
