Ramayana producer Namit Malhotra hints at trilogy as Part 2 moves to 2028

The second instalment of the Nitesh Tiwari directed epic has been delayed by one year to ensure quality.

Producer Namit Malhotra has confirmed that the second instalment of the Ramayana film has been pushed from 2027 to 2028. According to the Indian Express, Malhotra also indicated that the franchise could potentially expand into a trilogy depending on how audiences receive the first part.

The first film, Ramayana: Part 1, is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on November 5, 2026. While the project was recently reworked into a two-part format, Malhotra noted that the makers may return to the drawing board to add or subtract content based on global feedback.

Malhotra explained that the extra year for the second instalment is necessary to do justice to the scale of the film and avoid a rush job. He stated that the team wants to deliver the finale in the most grand way possible.

The production features two master versions, including one for international audiences with a rewritten script. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman, and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman.

The ensemble cast also includes Rakul Preet Singh, Lara Dutta, Arun Govil, and Kajal Aggarwal. The film is directed by Nitesh Tiwari with music by Hans Zimmer and AR Rahman.
