J&K colleges must enforce strict attendance and biometric monitoring
The Directorate of Colleges has warned of disciplinary action against employees who violate prescribed working hours or remain unauthorisedly absent from duty.
The Directorate of Colleges, Higher Education Department, Jammu and Kashmir, has directed all Government Degree Colleges to strictly enforce attendance norms and working hours, according to the Daily Excelsior.
Director Colleges Prof. (Dr.) Twinkle Suri stated that instances of unauthorised absence and non-adherence to working hours have been noticed, which affect institutional discipline and the teaching-learning process.
All principals of Government Degree Colleges and Government College of Engineering and Technology institutions across Jammu and Kashmir must ensure compliance by both teaching and non-teaching staff.
The circular calls for regular biometric attendance, punctuality, and the uninterrupted conduct of classes. It specifies that no employee may leave college premises during working hours without prior permission from a competent authority.
Heads of institutions have been asked to personally monitor compliance and ensure accountability. The Directorate warned that any violation or the submission of incorrect information would invite strict disciplinary action under applicable rules.
