Punjab distributes 2.19 lakh property cards under Mera Ghar Mere Naam scheme

The initiative aims to provide legally recognised ownership rights to residents in Lal Lakir areas through drone-based surveys.

The Punjab government has distributed 2.19 lakh property cards to beneficiaries across 1,377 villages in 23 districts under the ‘Mera Ghar, Mere Naam’ scheme, according to The Tribune.

Revenue, Rehabilitation and Disaster Management Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian said the initiative aims to establish clear ownership rights over properties in the Lal Lakir or Abadi Deh areas of all 10,689 villages in the state.

The process involves drone-based surveys and the preparation of an authentic Record of Rights to provide legally recognised documentary evidence of ownership to rightful owners.

Mundian stated that the distribution began at a state-level function in Sangrur on October 7 and has been progressing daily.

The implementation is being carried out in four phases. Work in 2,284 villages is expected to be completed by November 15, while the second phase of 1,680 villages is targeted for completion by the end of November.

A third phase covering 1,152 villages is scheduled for mid-December, and the remaining 5,579 villages are likely to be covered by the end of January 2027.

In areas where technical constraints prevent drone surveys, the process will be completed through ground-truthing or verification. The government is also working with village-level committees and gram sabhas to resolve objections regarding village maps.
